J. Caesar Phillips, 99 passed away on Saturday March 17, 2012 at his home surrounded by his daughter, son and special caregiver.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday March 20, 2012 at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Stalnaker and the Rev. Clarence Garner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Caesar was born March 22, 1912 in the Prosperity area of Moore County to the late Brad and Flossie Phillips. He was raised in Bennett. He was a graduate of Appalachian State Teachers College and UNC-Greensboro. He had a 42 year career as an educator in Chatham, Randolph and Moore County, including 29 years as principal of Westmoore School. He was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and taught the men's Sunday School class for 47 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith; a brother Henry Clay Phillips and sisters; Marguerite Jones; Clara Mae Cain and Ovilia Lytle.
Surviving are his daughter; Gloria of the home and a son Julius and wife Linda of Chapel Hill; sisters India Craven of Ramseur, Elizabeth Poole of Asheboro and Allena Phillips of Siler City.
The family would like to thank his caregiver Jennifer Hussey and First Health Hospice for the care they provided their father.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Monday March 19, 2012 at Kennedy Funeral Home in Robbins
